FAB CHALLENGE.

MICRO CHALLENGE 3.

May 17, 2022

Design and make "an ethic tool or strategy" that combined with your artifacts can help you design your intervention.

For this microchallenge I worked with my design collaborative SlowLab. At the moment we are developing a solar oven to cook with the energy of the sun. In the exploration of Low Techs we decided to start with this one because it is something that everyone does (cook and eat) and something that can be a social activity in which we interact. We realized we were missing a link to engage people with these type of technologies. Some people have become used to appliances being very accurate and so they depend on the specific degrees in which they cook their food. For this reason we decided to build a termometer which could build this bridge between people and low techs so they can familiarize more with this alternative solutions. We believe we can stop relying on the specifics and be more sensitive to proxies but there can definitely be a slow road and people might need a push. With this termometer we believe people might trust this technology a bit more. We created a repo in which we documented all of our process, you can check it out here and read our miro board here.
